SimCity 4 not installing in Windows 10Posted by BillyBobfan24_7 on 1/25/16 at 7:27 pm
I have been trying to install SimCity 4 from original disk to PC with no luck. Apparently there is some security check on the disk that win 10 no longer reads which doesn't allow the install to finish.
The easy answer is to buy a new copy from steam or GoG or some other equivalent. Also Origin could provide a free copy after inputting the reg code into their database but I tried that and it did not accept the code.
If anyone has ran across a similar situation with a successful remedy that would be very helpful. Thanks!

EDIT: NVM My reading comprehension was bad on that one. You can't even get the install done.
Sorry - I haven't run into any Windows 10 problems except a video driver issue.

The reddit thread linked seems to suggest that it is DRM that is causing the problem and it's difficult to work around. That seems likely to require you to get a new copy (probably digital).
You could send an e-mail to EA see if they have a solution to the problem or can help (i.e will give you a download/copy that will work in Windows 10).
I did something similar and got a newer edition (went from 2011 to 2016 version) of the game I was trying to get working.
I would suggest contacting EA and seeing how helpful they are and if they can't help, just go ahead and purchase Cities:Skylines. It costs a little more but it's a much better game.

Well CODMW4 was having similar problem installing but I was able to copy from disk to desktop and then install from there. Hopefully I can do the same with SC4.

Simcity 4 Not Working On Windows 10 Hp Envy 23
So I was searching for this fix myself and found many old links that didn't work, including someone claiming the Origin version of Sim City 4 Deluxe could not work widescreen with custom resolution.
While the Origin client does offer a built in way to add additional command line arguments it just doesn't seem to work.
Instead you need to find where the Sim City 4 executable.
For me it was at:
Though for most it will be the C: drive.
Once you find the exe file right-click on it and create a shortcut.
Then right-click on the shortcut and add the code in red to the target box.
Once done you can then move the shortcut to your Desktop or anywhere you want it.
The various parameters are explained here.
The only thing you may want to edit is the custom resolution values:
The above is 1920 pixels wide by 1080 pixels tall and 32 bit color. (You could also use 16 bit color which probably won't even be a noticeable difference.)
Even if you have a 4K screen (3840 x 2160) you probably don't want to use that resolution as the controls will be too tiny too see. Even at 1920x1080 you'll need a good eye to see and zooming in and out may be a challenge on a touchpad, just too fast. Remember the number keys 1,2,3,4 and 5 will instantly bring you to one of the five zoom levels and + and - keys will zoom you in and out as well.
With this info Sim City 4 Deluxe was perfectly playable even on a modern high red, widescreen, Windows 10 system via the Origin client.
